Hydrogen Coming to Green Belt LNG Stations

SEJONG, Nov. 28 (Korea Bizwire)Starting next month, hydrogen filling stations will be permitted for installation at existing green belt LNG stations.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that an amendment bill lifting restrictions on hydrogen filling stations in green belt areas was approved on Tuesday, and scheduled to take effect next month.

The new amendment will allow hydrogen filling stations to be installed at LNG stations or bus depots located inside green belt areas.

While hydrogen stations were already allowed in green belts before, none had been built as stand-alone stations as they were not expected to be cost-effective.

As they are now allowed to be installed alongside with other facilities, the ministry expects to eight hydrogen stations to be built in Seoul, and five in Gwangju.
