SEOUL, June 28 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Motor Co. and its sister brand Kia Motors Corp. said Wednesday that four of their vehicle models have won awards or have been tapped as finalists in a U.S. design competition.
The Genesis luxury G80 Sport sedan, the latest version of Hyundai’s midsize sedan, and the i30 hatchback were named finalists in the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) ’17, Hyundai Motor Group said in a statement. Genesis is the luxury sub-brand of Hyundai.
Kia’s Telluride luxury sport-utility vehicle concept won the bronze prize in the latest design contest, it said. The IDEA design award is one of the world’s three prestigious design competitions along with Germany’s iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award.’
Kia’s Telluride was named due to its powerful exterior design represented by the “tiger nose” grille, an iconic design feature that is seen across the entire family of Kia cars, and luxury-oriented yet futuristic interior, the statement said.
The G80 Sport sedan has also become a finalist due to its powerful proportion and striking upend interior. The Sonata New Rise sedan and i30 hatchback joined the G80 bolstered by their sporty styling and convenient design, respectively, it said.
