SEOUL, May 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Co. has launched a new service in which the company will pick up, charge and wash a customer’s electric vehicle (EV).
The South Korea’s largest automaker said Monday that it launched the ‘pickup & charging’ service for owners of the IONIQ 5, Kona Electric and IONIQ Electric models living in Seoul.
Customers can select the date, time and whether they prefer a non-face-to-face format, through Hyundai’s smartphone app.
The charging cost will be borne by customers, and the pickup cost is set at 20,000 won (US$17.90).
After the reservation is completed, Hyundai employees will pick up the car from the location at the time chosen by the customer. The car will be driven to a charging station in the neighborhood, where it will be recharged to 80 percent.
After the inside of the car is cleaned, the car will be returned to the customer.
Through the Hyundai app, customers can check not only the battery status and possible driving distance but also other information on the employee in charge, the location of the vehicle and the state of progress.
Hyundai expects the new service to contribute to removing the inconvenience for EV customers who have no time to recharge or have difficulty due to a lack of charging stations in their neighborhood.
