ULSAN, Nov. 2 (Korea Bizwire) – Representatives of Hyundai Motor Group were at Ulsan Metropolitan City Hall on the first of November, shaking hands on a deal with the city of Ulsan that will see Hyundai construct the largest road safety education complex for children in the country.
According to the terms of the MOU, Ulsan Metropolitan City has marked out 7,330 square meters within the boundaries of the Ulsan Gangdong Tourism Complex where Hyundai will begin the construction of the 4.5 billion won project. Educational programs will be planned and run by the Korean Association for Safe Committees.
The road safety education complex is slated to open late next year. Once completed, the complex will boast a yearly capacity of 12,000 child visitors. Main attractions like a seat belt training hall, a driving and walking training center and a children’s road safety licensing area are expected to be particularly popular.

For “Kids Auto Park Ulsan”, Hyundai will introduce miniature electric train cars developed in-house. Children will have the opportunity to drive the trains and gain the experience of personally maneuvering a moving vehicle on the complex’s roads.
Speaking on the proposed project, Ulsan mayor Kim Ki-hyun shared his thoughts, saying, “It is the responsibility of adults to create a safe society in which children can walk on the streets freely and are shielded from the dangers of traffic accidents. The Kids Auto Park that is coming into fruition through the collaboration of business enterprise, civic organization and local government will serve as a model example of the process in creating a developed traffic system.”
Hyundai president Yoon Gap-han emphasized the South Korean auto company’s commitment to the project and the region. “As a company that represents Ulsan and the Republic of Korea, Hyundai will establish the Kids Auto Park to ensure the safety of the public. Going forward, the company will make efforts to develop facilities and educational content and contribute to strengthening a culture that prioritizes road safety.”

Hyundai previously commissioned the “Kids Auto Park Seoul” located in Children’s Grand Park, Seoul. As of last month, an estimated 125,000 children had received road safety training at the complex. Hyundai also built a similar complex in Yancheng, China that opened in 2014 and now welcomes approximately 35,000 children every year.
