SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Co. said Thursday that it will supply eco-friendly cars to FIFA for a successful 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The South Korean carmake will send 446 passenger vehicles and 170 commercial vehicles, 236 of which are eco-friendly models, in promotion of a zero-carbon football championship.
It will the first time that eco-friendly cars are used as the official operations vehicles for the World Cup.
Half of all the passenger vehicles to be supplied by Hyundai will be all-electric IONIQ 5, Genesis’ electrified G80 sedan, the Sonata and the Tucson hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). The company will also send 10 Elec City electric buses.
The passenger vehicles will be used for escorting VIPs and staff. Commercial vehicles will be used for the players and the press.
