SEOUL, May 1 (Korea Bizwire) — A bronze memorial which celebrates U.S Marines’ victory at Iwo Jima in February 1945 will be restored with funding from philanthropist David Rubenstein.
He will donate US$ 5.37 million to restore the memorial, which has seen better days. The bronze memorial was installed on November 10, 1954.
Rubenstein reportedly made the contribution in remembrance of his father, who died as a marine in a battle in the Pacific War.
