LAS VEGAS, Jan. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s K-beauty industry showcased cutting-edge innovations at CES 2025, held January 7-10, reinforcing its commitment to integrating advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) into the beauty sector.

Industry experts predict that this trend will drive even greater participation from beauty companies at future tech exhibitions.

Amorepacific Group Chairman Suh Kyung-bae made his inaugural visit to CES this year, signaling the company’s growing emphasis on tech-driven beauty solutions. Amorepacific unveiled its collaborative project with Samsung Electronics at the First Look booth—the “AI Skin Analysis and Care Solution.”

This innovation combines camera-based optical skin diagnostics with device-assisted contact skin analysis, offering a comprehensive skincare assessment. Additionally, Amorepacific debuted the MakeON brand’s latest beauty device, the “Skin Light Therapy 3S,” set for official release in March alongside a dedicated app featuring AI skin analysis.

For the first time, Amorepacific operated a booth beyond its innovation award displays. The company earned its sixth consecutive CES Innovation Award with its voice chatbot-based digital solution, “Wanna-Beauty AI.”

Cosmetic Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) Kolmar Korea made its CES debut, introducing its AI-driven hyper-personalized skincare platform, “Kaiom.” This platform analyzes the skin’s microbiome to offer tailored skincare solutions and ongoing management.

Users simply collect a facial swab sample for microbiome analysis and use a pen-shaped optical device alongside a mobile app for real-time skin assessments, culminating in AI-generated comprehensive skincare insights.

Kolmar Korea reported high engagement at its booth, with hundreds of visitors on the opening day alone. Visitors praised the platform’s ease of use and personalized recommendations.

Kolmar executives, including North America Division President Heo Yong-chul and Convergence Technology Research Center Director Kim Jin-mo, personally assessed market responses on-site.

Meanwhile, beauty device company APR doubled its booth size for its second consecutive CES appearance, showcasing products like the Ultra Tune 40.68, High Focus Shot, and Booster Pro Mini. The expanded booth attracted numerous buyers and investors early in the exhibition.

Medical diagnostic device manufacturer NanoEntek introduced its co-developed product with global beauty giant L’Oréal, the “Cell BioPrint.” This tool offers personalized anti-aging advice and predicts individual skin responses to active ingredients like retinol.

Industry experts highlight that K-beauty brands are leveraging CES not only to gauge global tech trends but also to enhance brand recognition. Jang Joon-ki, Executive Director of the Korea Cosmetic Association, noted that CES provides K-beauty brands with a platform to promote themselves as technology leaders.

An industry insider added that while CES was once dominated by large electronics firms, the presence of tech-savvy K-beauty companies has grown significantly.

Beauty industry scholars foresee increased participation of K-beauty firms at CES in the coming years. Kim Joo-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women’s University, stated, “The fusion of cosmetics and electronics to create beauty devices or AI-powered products is an unstoppable trend. Beauty brands will increasingly participate in CES to stay ahead in this evolving market.”
