SEOUL, Jan. 26 (Korea Bizwire) — Kia Motors Corp., South Korea’s second-biggest carmaker by sales, said Friday it has released a teaser clip of its Stinger fastback sports sedan on YouTube, adding that the full commercial will appear during the Super Bowl early next month.
The 30-second clip features Formula One world champion Emerson Fittipaldi appearing with a couple of Stingers on a race track.
The full 60-second commercial will air during the third quarter of the Super Bowl on Feb. 4.
The all-new Kia Stinger was named one of three finalists for the 2018 North American Car of the Year in November last year.
Kia Motors has been running ads for the Super Bowl since 2010.
Kia’s commercial for the Niro small SUV during the 2017 Super Bowl was ranked the top commercial in the 29th annual USA TODAY Ad Meter, which measures public opinion on Super Bowl commercials.
The ad titled “Hero’s Journey” features U.S. comedian Melissa McCarthy braving the ocean, the African savanna and the Antarctic to save whales, rhinoceros and the ice caps in the Niro.
Global industry giants prefer to run advertisements during the Super Bowl as it is a chance to promote their products and services in front of more than 100 million viewers tuning in to the largest sporting event in the U.S.
While ad prices have not yet been revealed, industry watchers said spots usually costs more than US$10 million per minute during the annual U.S. National Football League championship.
