SEOUL, March 7 (Korea Bizwire) For the first time, Lamborghini has incorporated a battery from South Korea’s LG Energy Solution into one of its high-performance plug-in hybrid supercars.

The announcement was made by Lamborghini Chairman Stephan Winkelmann during the South Korean launch event for the Temerario, the latest addition to the automaker’s electrified lineup.

“The Temerario is equipped with an LG battery,” Winkelmann confirmed to reporters on March 6 at a launch event in Seoul’s Gwangjin District. Lamborghini’s decision to use LG Energy Solution batteries follows its earlier collaboration with another South Korean battery manufacturer, Samsung SDI, which supplied batteries for the Urus SE.

Winkelmann emphasized that the selection of LG was based purely on performance. “The battery has the same capacity and specifications as the one used in the Revuelto, delivering the high output necessary for a super sports car,” he said. “When choosing suppliers, nationality is not a factor; we select based on our internal evaluation process, where LG scored the highest.”

Addressing U.S. Tariffs and Expanding in South Korea

On the potential impact of tariffs on imported vehicles under former U.S. President Donald Trump’s anticipated policies, Winkelmann stated, “We are considering various scenarios and are in discussions with the Trump administration. However, no final decisions have been made, and it is too early to draw conclusions.”

Winkelmann also highlighted the uniqueness of the South Korean market, pointing to its high proportion of young and female customers. “This is a distinctive aspect of the Korean market,” he noted.

“We plan to expand motorsports-related opportunities in Korea and create exclusive experiences that money can’t buy, fostering a stronger community between Lamborghini headquarters, customers, and dealers.”

Lamborghini’s Stance on Autonomous Driving

Regarding autonomous driving technology, Winkelmann made it clear that Lamborghini does not intend to be an early adopter. “Our brand will not lead in this area,” he said. “Some Level 2 or Level 3 autonomous driving features may be introduced when they become more widespread across the industry, but our focus remains on the driving experience.”

High-Performance and Innovative Design

Unveiled for the first time in South Korea, the Temerario marks Lamborghini’s continued transition toward electrification. It follows the Revuelto and Urus SE, completing the automaker’s lineup of hybrid models.

“We are proud to be the first luxury car brand to establish a fully hybrid lineup,” Winkelmann said. “Introducing the high-performance plug-in hybrid Temerario to our Korean customers is a significant milestone.”

The Temerario, the successor to the Huracán, features a newly developed 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine capable of revving up to 10,000 RPM. Combined with three electric motors, it delivers a total output of 920 horsepower and a maximum torque of 730Nm (74.4 kg·m). The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 340 km/h.

Designed with aerodynamics in mind, the exterior is both intuitive and functional, while the interior incorporates premium materials such as carbon fiber-reinforced plastics. The vehicle offers 13 driving modes, including Citta Mode for urban driving, Strada Mode for long-distance cruising, and Sport Mode for an exhilarating performance experience.

With the Temerario, Lamborghini continues to push the boundaries of hybrid technology while staying true to its legacy of uncompromising performance and design.
