SEOUL, July 3 (Korea Bizwire)President Lee Jae Myung had a luncheon with the leaders of five minor political parties on Thursday and exchanged views on political and social issues, the presidential office said.

Attending the meeting at the presidential residence were Kim Sun-min of the Rebuilding Korea Party; Cheon Ha-ram of the New Reform Party; Yong Hye-in of the Basic Income Party; Kim Jae-yeon of the Jinbo Party; and Han Chang-min of the Social Democratic Party.

During the gathering, some party leaders raised the issue of granting pardons to imprisoned figures, including Cho Kuk, former leader of the Rebuilding Korea Party, as well as labor union leaders put behind bars for their labor-related activities, according to Woo Sang-ho, presidential secretary for political affairs.

Cho has been serving a two-year prison term since last December for academic fraud involving his children and unlawful interference in a government inspection.

They also addressed concerns over the recent shuffle in the prosecution’s leadership. In response, Lee, who previously faced multiple legal proceedings during his tenure as opposition leader, reaffirmed his commitment to prosecutorial reform, Woo told reporters.
