SEOUL, Nov. 25 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics announced on November 24 that more than 10 million of its premium refrigerators equipped with the “inverter linear compressor” technology were sold worldwide.
Sales are expected to hit record highs at two million units per year, as the cutting-edge home appliance has increasingly gained popularity in global markets such as the United States, South Korea, Europe and the CIS.
The electronics company has now registered or applied for 3,100 patents related to the inverter linear compressor technology. Earlier this year, the German Association for Electrical, Electronics & Information Technologies, or the Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker, revealed that the technology was 32 percent more energy efficient than other compressors.
