SEOUL, May 3 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics’ wireless, movable LG StanbyME lifestyle screen, a product that has remained in short supply due to high demand, is getting even more convenient.
On May 2, LG Electronics began preselling an upgraded version of the LG StanbyME on its domestic website, offering improved convenience and functionality.
The upgraded StanbyME has a dedicated remote control that is 52% smaller in volume and 25% lighter compared to the previous model. Additionally, a magnet has been incorporated into the remote, allowing it to be conveniently attached to the back of the StanbyME screen for easy storage.
Furthermore, the device now supports both Dolby Vision video technology and Dolby Atmos immersive audio technology from the audio-visual specialist Dolby, enabling users to enjoy a more immersive experience with various types of content.
Since its launch in 2021, the LG StanbyME has garnered significant attention, consistently selling out and receiving an enthusiastic response from customers.
In the first quarter of this year, approximately 60,000 units of the LG StanbyME were sold globally, surpassing half of last year’s total sales volume. The monthly average sales have more than doubled compared to last year, demonstrating the product’s enduring popularity even three years after its initial release.
Starting in Asia, the LG StanbyME is currently being sold in major European countries, as well as in North America, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
The LG StanbyME is an innovative form factor that blurs the boundaries between a TV and a tablet PC. Its key feature is the ability to move it around the house for various purposes, such as home training, streaming online video services, and online classes.
During the development of the StanbyME, LG Electronics took into account the viewing habits of Gen Z customers and incorporated their feedback multiple times. For instance, the company settled on a 27-inch screen size to ensure a comfortable viewing experience and easy touch operation, even when users are lying down.
These efforts paid off as LG sold out its initial stock of the dedicated speaker for the StanbyME, released earlier this year. The speaker outputs sound simultaneously with the StanbyME, providing richer audio while maintaining a cohesive design.
Last year, LG introduced the LG StanbyME Go, a portable version with a unique briefcase design containing the screen, stand, speaker, and built-in battery for easy mobility. The concept of freely enjoying content outdoors, such as in parks or camping sites, resonated with customers, leading to immediate sell-outs after its launch.
