SEOUL, March 26 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics, South Korea’s No. 2 tech firm, plans to roll out its latest LTE network-powered smartwatch in Korea. The LG Watch Urbane LTE comes with its own universal subscriber identity module (USIM) card that allows users to make phone calls without being paired with smartphones. It will be available starting Friday through LG Uplus at 650,000 won (US$589).
The smartwatch will be equipped with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and run on the Android Wear platform. It comes with a 1.3-inch plastic organic light-emitting diode (P-OLED) and a 700mAh battery. It can be linked to all smartphones that run on the Android 4.4 platform or higher. LG said the corrosion- and scratch-resistant metal body and leather strap will prevent possible damage from everyday use.
