Line and Woowa Brothers Join Hands to Kick off Food Delivery Business in Japan

The two companies will make available a food delivery app and corresponding services within the year’s end.

SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Korea Bizwire) – Woowa Brothers Corp., Korea’s food delivery app developer, said on October 10 that it would launch a new service “Line Wow” jointly with Japan’s Line, a mobile messenger service.

The two companies will make available a food delivery app and corresponding services within the year’s end. In the beginning, the services will be restricted to the Tokyo metropolitan area delivering premium lunchboxes only but will eventually be expanded in terms of delivery area, menu, and delivery time.

The company also said it will diversify the type of delivery items once it establishes itself in the area of food delivery. For the past few years, Woowa Brothers has grown by leaps and bounds in Korea, with more than 13 million downloads of its “Nation of Delivery” app. Line Wow will be linked with Line’s soon-to-be-introduced mobile payment service “LinePay.”

Earlier in August this year Woowa Brothers signed a cooperative agreement with Naver Inc., the parent company of Line, and promised to work together in the areas of new business development.
