SEOUL, Oct. 2 (Korea Bizwire)Major hotels in downtown Seoul are tapping into home shopping channels to attract vacationers as they struggle to overcome the impact of the novel coronavirus.

Shinsegae Chosun Hotel succeeded in selling a target amount of reservations at the L’Escape Hotel, a high-end hotel located in the heart of the capital city, on Shinsegae TV Shopping.

Intercontinental Seoul COEX became the first luxury hotel to join hands with GS Shop last May to sell accommodation plans on television, succeeding in garnering more than 20,000 reservations between May and August.

Hotels have been turning to home shopping channels as the coronavirus cut off all foreign guests as well as those on business trips.

Major high-end hotels in Seoul have been struggling with less than 50 percent occupancy over the Chuseok holidays, prompting them to focus on attracting South Korean guests to limit losses.
