SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — Sixteen-year-old K-pop singer Samuel had himself a sweet sixteen on January 18.
The singer’s entertainment agency told Yonhap News that fans had put up signs wishing Samuel a happy 17th birthday (Samuel is 17 in Korean age) on digital screens at New York City’s Times Square.
According to Brave Entertainment, Samuel is the youngest K-pop artist to receive the honor.
On the same day, posters wishing Samuel many happy returns were placed on walls of subway stations in China, Japan and Vietnam, while other fans chose to express their goodwill through donations to charity.
In response, Samuel in a statement thanked his fans for what he described as “an unforgettable gift that I will cherish forever” and promised that he would continue to grow as an artist.
Samuel made his claim to fame by appearing on “Produce 101 Season 2″, a reality TV program in which 101 young men through a process of elimination form a 11-member K-pop group.
