SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Korea Bizwire) – In a bid to attract pop culture enthusiasts, South Korea’s leading department stores are hosting exclusive pop-up stores featuring iconic entertainment franchises. Lotte Department Store is showcasing “Dragon Ball,” while Shinsegae Department Store features “Arcane Season 2,” the animated series based on the popular game “League of Legends.”
Lotte Department Store announced on November 10 that it is hosting South Korea’s first officially licensed Dragon Ball pop-up store at the Lotte World Mall Atrium in Jamsil until November 17. The 265-square-meter space celebrates the manga’s 40th anniversary with a storytelling approach, featuring over 300 merchandise items.
The pop-up recreates iconic scenes from the series, including a life-sized “World Martial Arts Tournament” arena photo zone where visitors can take pictures with character models of Son Goku, Master Roshi, Tien Shinhan, and Krillin.
The merchandise lineup includes clothing, cushions, keychains, mousepads, and blankets. The exhibition will also run at Lotte’s Busan main store from November 22 to December 1.
Meanwhile, Shinsegae Department Store has partnered with Riot Games to launch an “Arcane Season 2″ pop-up store at Central City’s Open Stage until November 17. The collaboration celebrates the Netflix release of the show’s second season on November 9, following the global success of its first season in 2021.
The 365-square-meter Arcane installation proved highly anticipated, with 2,000 pre-registration spots filled within an hour. The space features experience zones, a mobile gaming area for “League of Legends: Wild Rift,” and exhibition areas.
Visitors can create an “Arcane Citizenship” on the pop-up’s website to participate in shooting and brain-teasing missions as characters from the animation, with rewards for completion. Exclusive merchandise includes collectible figures of the show’s protagonist, Jinx.
“We’ve created immersive content that allows fans and customers to dive deeper into the League of Legends universe as we celebrate the release of Arcane Season 2, which has a global following,” said Lee Sung-hwan, executive director of business strategy at Shinsegae Department Store.
“Visitors can enjoy Arcane through various dimensions, from games and animation to media art and desserts, bridging both online and offline experiences across different genres.”
