SEOUL, Feb. 16 (Korea Bizwire)With a string of new electric vehicles (EVs) being rolled out this year by major carmakers, a consensus is building up among South Korean consumers that the popularization of EVs should be promoted in order to protect the environment.

Market research firm M-Brain Trend Monitor recently conducted a survey of 1,000 men and women between 19 and 59 years of age who currently own a car or have driving experience.

At 79 percent, the vast majority of the respondents shared the view the popularization of EVs should be promoted as a way to protect the environment.

In particular, middle-aged and senior consumers showed a higher level of consensus towards the idea, with 84.4 percent of those in their 50s and 84.4 percent of those in their 40s replying that EVs should be popularized for environmental protection.
