CHUNCHEON, Dec.7 (Korea Bizwire) – The local government of Chuncheon will start developing the area surrounding the statue of Soyang River Maiden, in a bid to promote the city’s new ‘Sky Walk’ as a tourist spot.
Chuncheon officials announced that they will redevelop the park near the statue of Soyang River Maiden into a parking lot. The local government explained that it is preparing for an increase in demand when the Sky Walk is completed and the area around a nearby traditional market is developed.
The Sky Walk is a structure that leads from the statue of Soyang River Maiden to a fish sculpture in the middle of the lake.
The Sky Walk is made of glass so that people can feel like they are walking in the sky. It is 160 meters long, drawing the attention of the public.
However, the city is changing its plans as the area lacked parking spaces in the vicinity of the Sky Walk.
A parking lot that can hold 130 cars and facilities for those who visiting on bicycles will be built. The local government is planning to finalize the project by the end of next year.
