Online Insurance Marketplace Attracts 100,000 Visitors in Only 3 Days

SEOUL, Dec.4 (Korea Bizwire)Over the past three days, nearly 100,000 individuals have visited the new online insurance supermarket known as Insurance Damoa, where users can compare different insurance plans make online insurance purchases.

According to the General Insurance Association of Korea, as of midnight on December 2, a total of 98,210 users had visited the Insurance Damoa site, which opened on November 30.

Approximately 60,000 users visited the site on the day it was launched, showing a high level of interest. The number of visitors decreased to nearly 20,000 a day afterwards.

Insurance Damoa has 217 types of insurance plans in six categories on offer, including travelers’ insurance, pension insurance, savings insurance, car insurance, term insurance and health insurance.

Among the different categories, term insurance was the most searched, coming in at 39.7 percent of the total number of searches. As term insurance is itself classified into nine sub-categories such as cancer, illness and life insurance, it is not surprising that it ranked first in popularity.

Car insurance ranked second for the number of searches, although it doesn’t have any sub-categories. It had an 18.1 percent share of the total number of searches.

More than 70 percent of the visitors reached the online market through a portal site. Naver was by far the most popular portal, at 62.7 percent, while 10.2 percent visited through Daum, and 14.8 percent visited through the General Insurance Association of Korea homepage.

Another 12.3 percent actually typed the site’s URL address (http://www.e-insmarket.or.kr/) directly into their browser.

Officials also revealed that 59.3 percent of the site’s guests used a PC, and 40.6 percent connected through mobile devices such as smartphones.
