SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea will introduce robots to feed military trainees this year.
The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy announced last week that they will introduce robots as a test run this year to minimize the risk of injury and pressure borne by military cooks.
The robots that will first be introduced to the Korea Army Training Center in the central city of Nonsan will take charge of making fried and stir-fried dishes, which have posed the highest safety risk for military cooks.
The government explained that two robots are capable of making food for 1,500 people. They can also save more than 10 percent of the time spent on cooking fried dishes and soups.
Military cooks will then be able to focus on supplying basic ingredients and managing taste.
The long hours spent on cooking rice will also be replaced by robots, allowing military cooks more time and effort to work on other areas.
