SEOUL, Oct. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — Following recent reports that wild boars were found to be carrying the African swine fever (ASF) virus, military authorities are deploying snipers in strategic points near the national border to fend off the potential carriers of a dangerous epidemic.
“We deployed snipers along several points near the border on Tuesday,” said the military.
Authorities are planning to lure the boars with food to hunt them down.
The Ministry of Defense reported that five wild boars had been caught near the Demilitarized Zone. One of the boars was ASF positive.
