SEOUL, May 26 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea and Romania continue to engage in cooperation to fight against the pandemic.
The South Korean Embassy in Romania said Wednesday it had donated some 600,000 Korean-made COVID-19 test kits to the Romanian government.
This follows the European country’s donation of surplus vaccines to South Korea last summer when the country was dealing with a vaccine shortage.
Bucharest donated and sold some 2 million shots of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines to South Korea.
Seoul vowed to donate Korean-made medical equipment in return and the test kits were given to Romania as part of the commitment.
Romania imported 15 million euros (US$16 million) worth of real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test kits from South Korea in March 2020 during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
