SEOUL, Dec. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Hair and nail products that can be used at home are gaining popularity as stricter social distancing measures are being considered following the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea.
This new development seems to have been driven by the fact that Level 3 social distancing guidelines will shut down barber shops, hair salons, and other businesses.
Auction, an online shopping mall, reported Tuesday a 22 percent increase of electric hair clipper sales between Nov. 20 and December 20 compared to last year. Sales of hair treatments that prevent hair loss in dry weather have almost tripled.
Nail treatment packages that come with nail clippers and other nail treatment tools have also jumped in sales by close to 150 percent.
Gmarket also reported a four-fold sales increase of hair treatment products. Decolorants and hair styling products saw sales jump by 32 and 22 percent, respectively.
