SEOUL, March 10 (Korea Bizwire) — A growing number of South Koreans are avoiding contact with others and preferring to exercise alone due to concerns over the novel coronavirus infection.
Hypermarket chain Lotte Mart said Monday its analysis of online sales of sports products from Feb. 17 to March 5 showed sales of exercise products that can be enjoyed alone have increased significantly from last year.
Sales of hiking gear saw a 157.8 percent increase, while cycling grew by 1680 percent, weight training goods by 16.9 percent, and camping supplies by 68.5 percent.
In addition, exercise equipment that can easily be used alone sold well. Sales of dumbbells showed a 211.8 percent jump, followed by yoga bands at 58 percent and hula hoops at 16.1 percent.
