BUSAN, Nov. 18 (Korea Bizwire) — Authorities are scrambling to ensure a safe game festival, which is expected to attract a massive number of visitors, following the Itaewon crowd crush.
On the first day of the annual global game trade fair G-Star at the BEXCO exhibition center in the southeastern port city of Busan on Thursday, police and security guards were deployed throughout the location to prevent congestion.
One company of a police task force (65 officers), two teams from the Korea Tourist Police and traffic police officers were deployed on this day.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency sent officers to BEXCO’s CCTV control room to monitor the congestion in real-time, preparing for any emergency events.
Two vehicles with a mobile broadcasting system were also deployed near the ticket booth for congestion management.
The number of security guards has also been doubled compared to 2019, when G-Star attracted the largest number of visitors, as part of an initiative to ensure safety, organizers said.
