SEOUL, June 25 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government will introduce examinations late this month to certify bicyclists and promote a safe environment for bicycles.
The examination consists of written and performance tests, and is based on the new safety education standards for bicycles set by the city this year.
The test is divided into two levels: basic, for children between 9 and 13 years of age; and intermediate, for children over 13 years of age.
Those who pass the test will receive an official certificate. Those who pass the intermediate-level exam will be entitled to a two-year discount for using Ttaereungyi, Seoul’s public bicycle rental system.
Anyone can reapply for the test once the certificate expires after two years.
Potential applicants should first complete safety education offered by registered private bicycle associations before applying to take the exam.
