SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Korea Bizwire)Since 1981, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has decreed that the 270,000 street lamps within its boundaries be lit from 15 minutes after sunset until 15 minutes before sunrise.

But after complaints that the policy is no longer appropriate for a much larger, more heavily populated Seoul with extensive infrastructure, the city government has agreed to institute a different system.

Starting next month, the 25 city districts will each be provided with a “brightness measurement system” that will be controlled at a hub at the Namsan Street Lamp Controls Center. (Image: Seoul Metropolitan Government)
