SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – In a city known for its bustling subways and towering skyscrapers, an unlikely fitness oasis is emerging beneath the streets.

The “Runner’s Station” at Yeouinaru subway station on Seoul’s Line 5 is set to unveil a slate of new programs, aiming to make running accessible to anyone with a pair of sneakers.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on August 15 that it will kick off its fall season with the “Seoul Energy Night” event on August 17, in collaboration with Adidas Runners Seoul. The highlight of the evening will be the “Ultra Challenge,” a timed race around Yeouido’s perimeter path.

Starting August 19, the station will host daily specialized running classes. Mondays will feature a unique “guide running” class where visually impaired and sighted runners will pair up, fostering inclusivity in the running community.

November will see the introduction of new competitive events, including a 20-meter sprint race and team relay races, allowing runners to challenge their personal bests.

Until the end of next month, participants can also take advantage of non-motorized treadmill experiences and professional coaching services to improve their individual running capabilities.

In preparation for major upcoming marathons, including the Chuncheon Marathon in October and the Seoul JTBC Marathon in November, the Runner’s Station will organize Shake Out Runs.

These events, scheduled a day or two before each marathon, will help runners fine-tune their condition.

For those interested in joining these programs, detailed information is available on the Runple app or the Hot2Hot2Seoul2024 Instagram account.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government envisions the Yeouinaru station Runner’s Station as an “oasis for runners,” a place where city dwellers can cultivate a running habit as part of their daily lives.
