SINAN, Feb. 18 (Korea Bizwire) — Sinan County in South Jeolla Province has attached stickers to buildings inside its county office complex to prevent wild birds from flying into glass windows.
Wild birds often fail to recognize building windows as obstacles, posing as a serious risk factor.
Since birds fly at a speed of 36 to 72 kilometers per hour, colliding with a window usually results in serious injury or death.
In the last 12 months, some 60 birds have collided with windows at the county office complex.
In response, anti-collision stickers have been affixed to windows at four buildings inside the complex in a bid to address the problem.
The stickers were developed in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Environment. Their effects have been recognized internationally.
