SEOUL, June 23 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean builder SK ecoplant Co. has formulated a blueprint aimed at developing and applying digital solutions and platforms for its environment business to upgrade it into a new energy business.
The company recently signed a strategic partnership agreement with Amazon Web Service (AWS) Korea, the local cloud-computing service affiliate of the U.S. retail giant Amazon Inc., to develop an eco-friendly digital solution and platform.
Under the terms of the agreement, SK ecoplant plans to develop a digital solution and platform for the upgrading of its environment business using AWS’ cloud technology and infrastructure.
The digital solution will be created in the form of Software as a Service (SaaS) to make it easily used by global environment businesses.
SK ecoplant developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-based solution to improve the operational efficiency of waste incinerators and reduce the emission of polluting materials through cooperation with AWS last year.
The newly-developed digital solution is expected to contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1,600 tons per year.
In addition, the two companies are also cooperating to develop an algorithm for the prediction of waste heat generation and a digital solution for the reduction of carbon emissions for sewage and wastewater processing facilities.
