SEOUL, April 23 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean telecom giant KT Corp. is set to launch a ‘two-way reservation check-in’ service that would make it easier for small businesses to manage customer reservations.
The new service, developed jointly with a domestic start-up, would enable small businesses to manage customer reservations via text message, while minimizing the losses that could arise from so-called ‘no-show’ customers.
A no-shows refers to a failure to honor or cancel a reservation.
Businesses making use of the new service will be able to send text messages to customers to check their reservation status.
After receiving the message, customers can reply through text messages to confirm their reservation or change the reservation date and time.
The service also provides real-time updates on customers who confirm their reservations, thereby enabling small businesses to better serve customers who need to change their reservations.
At present, KT is providing the two-way reservation check-in service on a trial basis at 10 hospitals in Seoul and other metropolitan areas. It plans to continue to improve the quality of this service through analysis of its usage data and effect.
