SEOUL, June 27 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Group has extended a gift of new faces and smiles to Vietnamese children with facial deformities.
The South Korean conglomerate said Monday it had conducted free surgical procedures for children with facial deformities in the Quang Ngai province of Vietnam. The surgeries were performed in collaboration with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and Smile for Children, a Korean medical volunteer organization.
This initiative represents SK’s flagship global corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity, which has been carried out annually since 1996 under the slogan Smile for Children.
SK has provided new faces to a total of 4,274 Vietnamese children across 17 regions, covering surgical costs of 4 billion won (US$3.06 million) over the past 27 years.
Company representatives emphasized the project’s significance in promoting medical cooperation between Korea and Vietnam.
The South Korean medical team works alongside Vietnamese medical staff, sharing medical technologies and donating surgical instruments and medical equipment.
