SEOUL, Korea, Sep 12 (Korea Bizwire) – SK Telecom said on September 12 that it has launched a new rate scheme “T LifePack” that allows smartphone users to watch videos up to 140 hours a month. At 9,000 won a month, T LifePack plan subscribers can use 62-gigabytes of data a month (about 2 gigabytes a day) to watch their favorite sports games. Two gigabytes of data on the LTE-A and LTE network are equivalent to about 2.3 hours of HD-quality video viewing or 4.5 hours of standard definition-quality videos.
As the first series of T LifePack, the company offered “T SportsPack” that airs baseball, basketball, and golf games every day every hour at the monthly cost of 9,000 won. Comparing to the “LTE 100″ plan, the best rate plan available until now, offers 18 gigabytes of data in a month at 100,000 won, the latest offer is something you can’t possibly refuse.
An SK Telecom official said, “By granting a large block of data for high-quality video content, we hope to expand the market for mobile video services, all the while helping our customers relieve their worries about too much mobile phone bills.”
