SEOUL, Mar. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Telecom has announced that its artificial intelligence (AI) personal assistant ‘A.’ (pronounced A Dot) will now provide crowding information for 37 popular cherry blossom viewing locations across the country.
Through the A. application, users can access anticipated crowd levels by day and time slot, real-time congestion updates, recent visitor traffic patterns, and visitor age group distributions for these iconic spring destinations.
An analysis of data from the past two cherry blossom seasons revealed Seokchon Lake as the most visited spot, while newer hotspots like Jamwon Hangang Park, Yangje Citizen’s Forest, and Murwang Lake have also gained significant popularity.
In terms of age demographics, those in their 20s tended to favor locations within Seoul, while those in their 30s and 40s preferred parks suitable for family outings and visitors aged 50 and above mainly frequented spots in the outskirts of Gyeonggi Province.
The A. crowd service utilizes data from telecommunications equipment such as base stations to provide real-time congestion information for public spaces including subway stations, shopping malls, tourist attractions, and sports facilities.
Since November of last year, SK Telecom has been offering crowd updates for these locations through the A. app, leveraging its extensive network infrastructure data.
