SEOUL, Jul. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean car sharing service provider Socar has become the first company to reach a total of 10 million reservations in the industry, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
From February 2012 until earlier this month, more than 10 million reservations were made, with the combined mileage estimated to be 420 million kilometers, which is longer than traveling between the Earth and the moon 550 times, the company said.

In an infographic released in celebration of marking the milestone of 10 million reservations, the car sharing company went on to describe its achievements using analogies.
As the number of cars that were rented was 10,029, the company argued, the same number of Hyundai Avante cars piled on top of each other would be 1.6 times taller than Mount Everest.
The amount of fuel used was estimated to be 36 million liters, with which you could fill up an Airbus A380 over 120 times.
According to the infographic, a car maintenance service was performed once every week on each of the cars, amounting to a total of 955 procedures per day.

“Socar’s reservation figure of 10 million is indicative of the positive attitude in South Korea society towards the sharing economy and the downfall of stereotypes regarding means of transport,” said Socar CEO Jo Jeong-yeol.
