SEOUL, Oct. 19 (Korea Bizwire) – Tickets for South Korea’s rising classical piano star Cho Seong-jin’s upcoming solo recital have sold out in minutes online, organizers said Thursday.
The 23-year-old prodigy shot to fame after becoming the first Korean to win the prestigious International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in October 2015. Cho will perform at the Seoul Arts Center on Jan. 10 and 11.
Credia, the event’s organizer, said the tickets sold out within four minutes Tuesday when offered exclusively to its online members. They also sold outin less than a minute Wednesday, when sales were open to the general public.
“We’re receiving a lot of inquiries from those who couldn’t purchase tickets,” a company representative said. The company had limited purchases to four per buyer due to concerns about scalping.
Cho will also be featured in the upcoming Seoul concert featuring Sir Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker at the Seoul Arts Center on Nov. 19. He will be replacing renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang, who was to join the renowned English conductor but pulled out due to health reasons.
