SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – Starbucks Coffee Korea has become the first coffeemaker to introduce digital receipts, according to a company statement on Monday.
According to Starbucks, the new program will be offered to its My Starbucks Rewards members, who will be issued digital receipts instead of paper ones when they place their orders at the store or via Siren Order, a service that allows users to order and pay for their drinks remotely to avoid waiting in line.
Starbucks Korea estimates that roughly 400,000 paper receipts are printed daily at its stores across the country, and it expects to eliminate 140,000 – that is roughly 1,000 A4 papers saved each day – with the new system.
Users will also be able to better protect their privacy with digital receipts by preventing sensitive information from being disclosed involuntarily, the company said.
