SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Korea Bizwire) – The Box Park in London, England, a famous shopping center made from shipping containers, will be built in Seoul as well.
Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, Kolon Industry and the Seoul Business Agency signed a business agreement to establish a Box Park in Seoul at Kolon Common Ground near Konkuk University. Kolon Common Ground is the world’s largest pop-up container shopping mall, housed in the garage of Daehan Taxi.

Seoul plans to build Box Parks on unused lands in underdeveloped regions, gathering small fashion brands and popular restaurants to revitalize local commercial areas.

City officials are expecting 75 start-up spaces and over 200 jobs to be created. The municipal government will offer administrative support and provide unused lands, and Kolon will provide containers and support for distribution and marketing. Seoul Business Agency will offer financial support to the project.
