SEOUL, July 15 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s major travel agencies are releasing charter flight package tours primarily for Southeast Asia as part of efforts to better cope with the recent hike in air ticket prices caused by higher oil prices and a weak Korean won.

Hana Tour sold specially-priced air tickets to Southeast Asia departing in July and August through a live commerce show on Thursday.

It is selling charter flight tickets for major Southeast Asian routes, including Da Nang, Phuket and Boracay in a bundle with travel insurance products.

The company is also selling charter flight tickets departing from local cities, including Busan-Da Nang and Muan-Da Nang.

Mode Tour is also selling tour package products for trips to Southeast Asia by bundling charter flight tickets with hotels.

The tour package products include a four-night package to Da Nang and Hoi An in Vietnam, and another package for Cebu and Bohol in the Philippines.

Charter flight package tours are offered on the basis of charter contracts between travel agencies and airlines. Accordingly, air ticket prices remain unchanged even if fuel surcharges increase.

“Charter flight tickets also allow travel agencies to secure and arrange many seats,” said an industry official.
