SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — Popular K-pop girl group TWICE released its much-anticipated sixth EP, “Yes or Yes,” and its title track Monday. Will it be another success after the group’s nine straight hits, which range from debut single “OOH-AHH” to latest success “Dance The Night Away”?
“We worked hard on this album because many people gave so much love whenever we put out new songs,” member Nayeon said during a media showcase for the album held at the KBS Arena in western Seoul several hours before its official release. “We hope fans will love this song too, but we’re not going to be disappointed even if it fails to top the music charts because many new songs are scheduled to come out in November.”
The album features seven tracks, including the title track and a Korean language version of “BDZ,” the title track off the group’s first Japanese studio album.
The nonet maintains vivacious and girlish image in the main song, “Yes or Yes,” which portrays a girl forcing her love interest to say “Yes” to her confession of love. It says, “Hey boy, look, I’m going to make this simple for you. You got two choices: Yes, or yes.”
The synthpop track with Motown, reggae and arena pop sounds was written by Shim Eunji, who wrote the lyrics of “Knock Knock,” and the music was composed by David Amber and Andy Love of “Heart Shaker.”

The album is the group’s first since it celebrated its third anniversary last month.
“I cannot really realize that it’s been three years (since we debuted). Now I want to stay in this career and enjoy our music with ONCE members until we celebrate our 30th year,” said Jihyo, leader of the band, referring to its fan club.
She said the high public expectations for the new song were burdensome but fueled the members’ desire to do better, especially by presenting more “gorgeous” choreography for it.
Other songs on the seven-track EP are “Say You Love Me,” “After Moon,” “LaLaLa,” “Young & Wild” and “Sunset.” The lyrics of the last three were written by members Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung and Jihyo, respectively.
“BDZ” is the third track that Park Jin-young, singer and founder of JYP Entertainment, has provided for TWICE, after “Signal” and “What is Love?”
When asked what kind of advice Park gave about the album, Dahyun said, “He gives a lot of advice whenever he meets us. I understand he is called ‘teubeoji’ by our fans. He is like a father to TWICE and advised us to do the point choreography in a pretty manner this time.” “Teubeoji” is a portmanteau of the words, “TWICE” and “abeoji,” the Korean word for father.
