SEOUL, May 26 (Korea Bizwire) – ‘Incruit’, a job search website, has reported that 45 percent of unemployed women who participated in an online study replied that they would enlist in the army if adding army experience to their resume would improve their chances of employment.
The online study, conducted between May 17 and 19, surveyed a total of 787 ‘Incruit’ website members with several questions related to the army and employment. In addition to the 45 percent affirming they would enlist if it helped them find a job later, 67 percent replied that they believed the experience of being part of a group, provided by the army, would help prepare them for an office environment.
Another 58 percent of employed females also replied that they believed being part of the female army ROTC would directly improve job prospects.
However, the male members who were surveyed responded ambivalently when asked whether they believed army experience would help with finding employment. For instance, the poll showed that the replies from the participants were almost equally divided with 53 percent agreeing and 47 percent disagreeing.
On the other hand, 71 percent replied that if they did enlist in the army again, they would make sure to enlist in a position that would help with getting a job.
The diverse responses to the questions leave much to consider in light of various factors at play, such as the influence of army experience in shaping the male participants’ opinions, compared to most of the female participants, who (presumably) could only speculate about army experience.
