SEOUL, South Korea, Oct 09 (Korea Bizwire) – Korea’s non-profit organization WorldShare has joined hands with Samsung Heavy Industries to build a library and a community well in the suburban town of Matola, near the Mozambican capital Maputo. According to the charity on October 8, it signed an agreement with the city officials and held a signing ceremony on the 1st.

The library will be completed by April next year. The facility, to double as a childcare center, can hold up to 50 children. In addition, employees of Samsung Heavy Industries have worked on the water well for two months since August and saw it spurt water recently.

A WorldShare official said, “Mozambique has a high illiteracy rate and there are many children who are unable to go to school because they have to walk several hours a day to get water from nearby streams. To help them out, we set out to build the library and water well in partnership with Samsung Heavy Industries.”

WorldShare, a homegrown private international development agency, has offices in 30 developing countries across the world, focusing on children’s welfare as well as drinking water supply and emergency relief. For further information, visit the website at www.worldshare.or.kr.
