SEOUL, Oct. 31 (Korea Bizwire)As 2030 generation workers place importance on their own satisfaction and work-life balance, their desire to be promoted is also quite different from those in the older generations.

According to a survey of 724 office workers in their 20s and 30s conducted by online job portal Saramin, 41.7 percent said they do not care about promotions at all.

When dividing the results by age group, 44.6 percent of the respondents in their 20s, the Millennial generation, said they did not care about promotions, 9.4 percentage points higher than the 35.2 percent in their 30s.

In addition, the ranking of the final promotion target was not significantly different between men and women. For men and women, 37.7 percent and 47 percent, respectively, said they do not care about being promoted.

This target was followed by an executive-level position, accounting for 36 percent of men and 15 percent of women; and manager, accounting for 14.4 percent of men and 13.1 percent of women.

However, more than 50.4 percent of men were managers, while only 28.1 percent were women.

In addition, 56 percent of men and 44.7 percent of women thought they could reach their final promotion target, which shows some difference.

The respondents chose “I do not intend to work long” and “I am not greedy for promotion” as the reasons why it was impossible to get a promotion to a target position.

“It seems that the 2030 generation does not put much weight on their position as ‘company employees’,” said an official from Saramin.
