SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Korea Bizwire) - The third season of “Youth over Flowers,” a tvN travel reality show, will take four male leads of the same network’s soap opera hit “Reply 1988″ to Africa, its producers said Thursday.
Star producer Na Young-seok, whose shows have consistently ranked high in viewership charts, will continue to direct the program. Na said he booked the four — Ahn Jae-hong, Ryu Jun-yeol, Go Kyung-po and Park Bo-gum — way before the nostalgia-provoking series “Reply 1988″ concluded in January.
“I asked producer Shin Won-ho (who directed ‘Reply 1988′) before the show started whether he thought it would do well,” Na told reporters at a press conference in Seoul on Thursday. “If so, I asked him to let me know before the actors became too expensive to cast.”
Although Shin had given an equivocal answer, Na somehow predicted correctly that the family drama set in the 1980s would be a huge hit.
“I cast them immediately after watching the first episode,” he said.
Each member of the quartet has taken on a specific role during their conquest to Victoria Waterfalls in Zambia, the producer said.
Ahn, for instance, will put his cooking skills to use. Ryu will be the driver, with Ko being the unwilling treasurer. As for Park, well, Na didn’t say, except that he has remained his polite self on the program.
Season three of “Youth over Flowers” premieres at 9:30 p.m. on Friday.’
