SEOUL, Dec. 5 (Korea Bizwire) – Fifth generation (5G) networks are available on all intra-city buses operating across South Korea as part of the government’s effort to help bus passengers use the internet more conveniently, the science ministry said Tuesday.
The free WiFi service on 29,100 intra-city buses in the country has been improved to 5G from the fourth-generation LTE network, advancing the internet speed fourfold, according to the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The government said it also plans to replace aging WiFi routers installed on the buses between 2015 and 2017 with newer routers by 2025 that provide an internet speed twice as fast as the previous models.
