SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Korea Bizwire) – Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on October 2 the launch of its updated off-road vehicle, the New G450d, a refreshed version of the iconic G-Class SUV.
The new model maintains the G-Class’s signature boxy exterior and analog charm while significantly improving driving performance and convenience features.
A key upgrade in the G450d is the introduction of a 48V mild hybrid system, which provides an additional 15kW of power and 200Nm of torque. When combined with its six-cylinder diesel engine, the vehicle now boasts a maximum output of 367 horsepower, an increase of 37 horsepower from its predecessor, and a peak torque of 76.5kg·m.
In a first for the G-Class line, the G450d comes equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen driver and media display, along with the MBUX infotainment system, improving the vehicle’s tech offerings.
The off-road cockpit control unit has been redesigned to provide more intuitive information related to off-road driving, including horizon, position, and altitude data.
Another notable addition is the “transparent hood” feature, a first for the G-Class. This technology, working in conjunction with a 360-degree camera system, helps drivers more easily identify obstacles in steep terrain by providing a view of the area beneath and in front of the vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz Korea plans to roll out the diesel G450d model first, with intentions to introduce the electric-driven ‘G580 with EQ Technology’ and the high-performance Mercedes-AMG G63 models later this year.
