HANAM, South Korea, Aug. 29 (Korea Bizwire) – Starfield Hanam, an upcoming shopping mall complex built in a joint venture between Shinsegae (51) and Taubman Asia (49), is set to open in September, and is now undergoing authentication procedures for its attainment of several domestic records, including as Korea’s largest shopping mall.
The $1-billion, seven-story complex (four lower, three upper) covers 459,517 square meters of total floor area. It is about 10 percent larger than the recently extended Shinsegae Centum City store (417,304 square meters) in Busan and 4.6 times larger than the Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam.
The mall is equipped with a 243,824-square-meter parking lot that can house up to 5,600 vehicles, and features Korea’s largest dynamic façade in its entrance walls, with 107,000 125 millimeter panels. The mall has Korea’s widest atypical skylights, covering 9,927 square meters.
“Starfield Hanam will be issued with certificates for reaching records in four categories in early September,” said a Shinsegae official.
