SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Agriculture held a trial event earlier this week for an award-winning stray dog app called ‘Paw in Hand’, which helps users find lost dogs or adopt unclaimed pets.
The event hosted by the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFRA) at Daejeon’s animal protection center was held in a nod to the potential of the app, which has already built a following of over 320,000 users, having won a contest held by the MAFRA earlier this year.

The Paw in Hand app allows users to obtain the latest information on stray and abandoned dogs checked into animal care centers across the country in real time, based on public data.
With pet ownership continuing to grow in South Korea, the support for the popular app is the latest example of the MAFRA’s efforts to raise awareness of stray dogs among the general public.
As word of the app spreads, the MAFRA hopes more people will be interested in adopting stray dogs.

“We hope to see more public data-based open platform apps such as Paw in Hand developed which are useful to the public,” said Ann Ho-geun, the assistant secretary at the MAFRA.
