SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Plane tickets from Seoul’s Gimpo International Airport to the popular tourist destination Jeju Island are selling for less than the price of a cup of coffee.
This week, low-cost carriers are selling tickets for 3,000-3,500 won (US$2.54-2.96) for a one-way trip from Gimpo to Jeju.
Jeju’s previous reputation as a competitive tourist destination has now changed following the coronavirus outbreak, shooing away potential travelers and putting pressure on the price of air travel.
The Jeju Tourism Association reported a 42 percent plunge in the number of South Koreans visiting Jeju Island last week compared to the previous year.
